Terms and Conditions

 

1. Introduction

(a) These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply when you use the website operated by Invent the Compass Limited (“Website”).
(b) By using the Website or booking tuition services, you agree to be bound by these Terms, which form a binding contractual agreement between you and Invent the Compass Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”).
(c) If you do not agree to these Terms, you must refrain from using the Website or our services.
(d) We may amend these Terms at any time by updating this page. Continued use of the Website or services after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.
(e) All bookings must be made in writing via: info@inventthecompass.com.
(f) Bookings will not be accepted by telephone to avoid miscommunication.
(g) Bookings require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations by Invent the Compass Limited will be communicated in advance, except in the case of an emergency.

Cancellation Policy

  • Term-time bookings: Require a minimum of two weeks’ notice, with cancellations effective at the end of term.
     
  • Holiday periods: Require at least two weeks’ notice.
     
  • Group bookings: Non-cancellable and non-refundable.
     

Lateness & Technical Issues

  • A 15-minute grace period applies in the event of technical or travel delays by either party.
     
  • If technical difficulties prevent a lesson from continuing, the full lesson will be rescheduled.
     
  • In the event of unforeseen circumstances, a mutually convenient rescheduled lesson will be arranged.
     

Additional Booking Terms
(h) Group booking absences cannot be refunded or cancelled. The absent party remains responsible for payment.
(i) Breaks requested by the client during a lesson will not result in extra time being added.
(j) Clients are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary equipment for lessons.
(k) All lessons are recorded for safeguarding purposes only. Recordings are securely deleted within 7 days.
(l) Introductory or new client offers may only be used once per household/student.
(m) All tuition is undertaken at the client’s own risk. We do not accept liability for academic outcomes, examination results, or decisions made by exam boards or third-party organisations.
(n) We are not responsible for errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in third-party materials (including textbooks, exam board publications, or online resources). Clients are advised to cross-check information with the relevant awarding body.

2. Voucher Prizes

  1. Voucher Issuance and Purpose
    Vouchers are provided in good faith to support charitable and community fundraising. A maximum of one voucher per fundraising event per organisation will be issued.
     
  2. Verification of Winners
    Voucher redemption requires confirmation of the winner’s name from the organising body (e.g. PTA).
     
  3. Redeeming the Voucher
     
    • One-to-One Lessons: Voucher value may be applied to a one-hour one-to-one lesson. Additional time is charged at our standard hourly rate and must be paid at booking.
       
    • Group Classes: Vouchers may be applied to a block of group sessions, subject to our standard group class rates and terms.
       

3. Promotions and Referral Schemes

General Promotional Terms

  • A valid promotional code must be quoted at booking.
     
  • Only one promotional code may be used at a time.
     
  • The same promotional code cannot be used more than once.
     
  • Trial lessons must be paid in full.
     
  • All offers are subject to availability.
     
  • Tuition is provided online or face-to-face (where available). Additional travel costs may apply for certain areas.
     
  • English and Drama tuition is online only.
     

Referral Scheme

  • A free lesson is granted only once the referred student has booked and paid for at least ten lessons.
     
  • One referral offer per student.
     

Free Festive / Special Event Lessons (e.g. Diwali, Christmas, Birthday Sessions)

  • Sessions are limited in number and must be booked in advance.
     
  • Each session lasts one hour.
     
  • Sessions are recorded for safeguarding.
     
  • These revision sessions are general and not tailored to specific exam boards. For tailored support, one-to-one lessons must be booked.
     

4. Group Online Timetable

  • Introductory promotions do not apply once a client has joined a group session.
     
  • Sessions must be paid for in advance to secure a place.
     
  • Lessons are recorded for safeguarding purposes.
     
  • Group sessions are not tailored to individual student needs. For personalised tuition, one-to-one sessions are recommended.
     

5. Use of the Website

You agree to use the Website only in accordance with these Terms and applicable laws. You must not:

(a) Copy, reproduce, adapt, modify, or decompile any part of the Website without prior consent.
(b) Use the Website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.
(c) Interfere with the operation or security of the Website.
(d) Use automated tools to access or manipulate the Website.
(e) Damage or diminish the reputation of Invent the Compass Limited.
(f) Attempt to gain unauthorised access to data, accounts, or systems.

6. Information on the Website

We strive to ensure the Website is accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that:

  • It will always be error-free or accessible.
     
  • Messages will be delivered on time.
     
  • Information provided is always accurate, complete, or secure.
     
  • We accept no responsibility for errors contained in third-party resources linked or referenced on the Website.
     

7. Intellectual Property

All Website content, including text, images, videos, graphics, and logos, is the property of Invent the Compass Limited. You may view or temporarily download content for personal use only. Any reproduction or distribution requires prior written consent.

8. Security

We are not liable for any damage to devices caused by using our Website. Users must take precautions against viruses or malware.

9. Privacy

Use of the Website is subject to our Privacy Policy, available at the bottom of the Website.

10. Liability

(a) We make no warranties or representations about this Website or any of its content.
(b) To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude any liability that may arise from the use of our Website, tuition services, or reliance on third-party materials.
(c) Tuition is provided on the understanding that responsibility for learning progress, outcomes, and examination results rests with the client/student.
(d) You agree to indemnify Invent the Compass Limited against any claims, loss, or liability arising from misuse of the Website or services.

11. General Provisions

11.1 Governing Law – These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
11.2 Waiver – Waivers must be in writing and signed.
11.3 Severance – If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remainder will remain valid.
11.4 Assignment – Rights under this agreement may not be transferred without written consent.
11.5 Entire Agreement – These Terms supersede all prior agreements.
11.6 Interpretation – Standard legal interpretation rules apply.

12. Payment and Invoicing

(a) Payment must be made in advance.
(b) Once block bookings have commenced, full payment is required.
(c) Cancellations require 48 hours’ notice; an alternative slot will be offered.
(d) Block bookings must be completed in full; partial cancellations are not permitted.
(e) Face-to-face sessions are charged at premium rates.
(f) All offers are discretionary and may change without notice.
(g) Referral discounts may only be applied once.

13. Health and Safety

(a) All employees of Invent the Compass Limited have the right to work in a safe environment.
(b) For face-to-face lessons, staff locations are logged for safeguarding. Online lessons may be recorded.
(c) Recordings are stored securely and used only for safeguarding, before deletion.
(d) Lessons will be terminated immediately if unsafe or inappropriate behaviour occurs. Payment will still be due.
(e) Face-to-face consultations will end at the agreed time. We do not provide childcare services. Parents/guardians remain responsible for children at all times.

14. Duration of Agreement

(a) These Terms apply for the duration of all ongoing consultations and lessons. If no booking occurs for six months, the agreement will automatically expire.
(b) A new agreement must be signed if lessons resume after a gap of six months.
(c) Client information will be retained securely for six months following the last lesson or consultation.
